Barack Obama has stated he wants to reform the police across the nation. He has also stated he will not stop sending military equipment to police departments across the country. So we have reform, but continued militarization of the police at home. Great. I can get behind Reform. That’s Change I can believe in! Oh, wait. Who did he appoint as head of the reform commission?
Charles Ramsey. Many of you probably don’t know who he is, so let’s talk about him for a moment, shall we? He served as Washington D.C.’s Chief of Police for 8 years. During those 8 years, crime rates allegedly dropped by 40%. These numbers are quite astonishing, and many in uniform see him as an innovative Chief with an ability to see a problem and find a solution.
But that’s also the problem. Charles Ramsey is an anti-Constitutionalist thug that should be behind bars for many things such as: civil rights violations, inciting riots, torture, and even perjury. Ramsey was behind the mass arrests in Pershing Park back in 2002. If none of you are familiar with the arrests, let me give you a brief overview and some links to get you up to speed.
In 2002, the banking industry wasn’t the most liked industry in the US (anyone surprised?). Several protests were planned from 2000 to 2002. One of the most infamous occurred in Pershing Park. The people were protesting the World Bank/IMF and their stranglehold on the economy, and on politics in this nation. As most good police departments would, Charles Ramsey knew about the protests, and decided he must take action to prevent these self-righteous Americans from exercising their right to protest.
In an affidavit, Paul Hustler, a police officer on the force at the time, swore that Ramsey gave the order to arrest everyone. According to the affidavit, Ramsey said

“As I walked closer, about five or six feet away from them, I heard Chief Ramsey say, ‘We’re going to lock them up and teach them a lesson.'”

This shows the complete lawlessness of Charles Ramsey and how very little the Constitution and the laws he enforces actually mean to him. You can view the affidavit below and we’ll continue on afterward.
One passerby, Julie Abbate, was a legal observer observing the protests. She entered the area of the protests and was immediately shoved against the wall. According to her complaint, she was patted down, asked to remove her slacks and pull down her underwear. After doing so, she was told to squat down and cough. She, along with approximately 400 others were arrested. According to Abbate, she was handcuffed in a bus for five hours, and then hog-tied (wrist(s) bound together which are bound to a foot/feet) and placed on the floor of a gym for 12 hours. Others were held, in a hog-tied position for up to 30 hours.
So what were these criminals’ charged with? Failure to obey a dispersal order, according to police — initially. The police later dropped the charges, because protesters stated no dispersal order was given and that those who tried to leave weren’t allowed to. They were all boxed in and funneled into one area where they were promptly handcuffed, hog-tied, and arrested.
These actions, brought to the American people by Charles Ramsey, ended up costing the City of Washington D.C. 22 million dollars. To make matters worse, Charles Ramsey was caught perjuring himself regarding whether he told officers to do this or not. Initially he denied having told the officers to make these mass arrests, but the affidavit, brought to us by Hustler, was admissible in court and he later admitted to telling them to make the arrests. Even worse is the fact that he once again changed his story later and reverted back to denying it, even though he already had admitted to giving permission. This isn’t a man that respects the law. This is a man that thinks he IS the law.
That’s not all that happened under the very watchful eye of Charles Ramsey, this just happened to be the most expensive and most well-known of them all.
Back in 2000, officers in plain clothing, wearing nothing more than a jacket that says “Police” on it walked through a crowd of protesters and began to randomly punch people in the face, randomly pepper-sprayed people at very close range, and continued to do so for awhile. Don’t believe me? Watch it for yourself:
As soon as Charles Ramsey took over as the Chief, he employed these tactics time and time again — have police remove their badges, walk out in public and menace the American people expressing their freedom of speech. It happened over and over and over again.
So fast forward to now. President Barack Obama says he wants to reform the police in this country. He refuses to discontinue the militarization of the police, but says he wishes to reform the police and retrain them all. He’s asking Congress for $263 million in order to reform police procedures. And that sounds great to me; it really does. I would love to see our police being held accountable for demolishing Constitutional rights. I would love to see more officers be charged when they are found guilty of illegal actions and misconduct. I would love to see a justice system that doesn’t hold the police up as some form of “superhuman” that isn’t capable of doing anything wrong. But for Barack Obama to place this anti-Constitutional piece of garbage at the head of the reform means he wants reform — he just wants to make the police worse.
Under now Philadelphia Police Commissioner Ramsey’s reform policies, we’ll see a police force putting their badges away, but keeping their guns. We’ll see a police force inciting riots constantly when protesters utilize their first amendment rights. We’ll see a police force beholden to no justice system. These police will be honored for doing the things they do and there won’t be anything we can do about it, aside from massacring police.
I do not want to see police officers in harms way. I don’t want to see Americans afraid to protest. I don’t want to live in a country where I cannot speak freely and write articles like this without fearing a government shut down of my website. That is not the America I grew up in and it definitely isn’t the America I want my children to grow up in. I urge us all to protest Obama’s appointment of Charles “anti-Constitutional” Ramsey. When he officially announces it and it spreads through the mainstream media, we must stand up and fight against this tyrannical move.
Charles Ramsey has no place in law enforcement. He is a thug, a punk, and a menace to our society. Charles Ramsey is nothing more than a terrorist among us and we must not allow Obama to reform the police under Ramsey, because once we lose our freedoms, we will never get them back without a civil war. Think about that. Spread the word and become active in your community. Share this page or this information with everyone you know. Let’s tell Obama where he can stick this appointment.
