The Huffington Post is reporting that “Gunmen” have taken over government buildings in Ukraine. The protests have overtaken police and the protesters were able to take the building. Read their article and watch the short video here.
As I’ve been saying this whole time, the Ukrainians are fed up with their government. They don’t like their government. Their government is corrupt and they’re letting everyone know it. There’s nothing wrong with what they’re doing, but of course, the US has to save face after backing the wrong side and are saying it was a coordinated attack by Russia. They’re saying this was all from planted protesters of Russian nationality.
Oh, please. There are a LOT of Russians in Ukraine, so saying these protesters are Russian is like slapping your forehead and saying “derp, derp”. Of course they’re Russian – that’s what many Ukrainians are. But, let’s blame it on Russia and act like this revolution is a staged coup on the Ukrainian government by the Russian government.
I’m sorry to those folks that hate Putin and hate Russia, but the fact is that Ukrainian citizens are sick and tired of their government. Just like in Egypt, Tunisia, and all the other countries facing revolution. For the US to condemn this is like them saying the people of the US have no right to dissent, protest, and revolt. It is what it is.
The revolution is coming to this country as well. I fully believe the United States government has been mistreating its citizens for far too long. This country was founded on anti-tyrannical government stances. The purpose of the Declaration of Independence was quite clear. And as a nation, it is our duty to abolish and reinstate a new government when the government fails to be by the people and for the people. Our forefathers warned of allowing corporate interests to dictate the state of our government. But, we have become complacent, ignorant, and lazy. Now, our government is too far gone and a new one needs to be established. But, we have that right. Our foundational law makes it our DUTY to do such things.
So, if we tell the people of Ukraine that they’re wrong, then we are also telling ourselves that we have no right to revolt. We must protect the voice of the people wherever they are. Our rights, our freedoms, and our lives depend on our ability to stand up to the government in which we are enslaved. We musn’t side with governments when their people are tired of being oppressed. We must side with the people. Always the people.
I realize I got a bit off track here, but this is an important aspect of our supposed “American Freedoms.” We can’t be lazy anymore, and we must practice what we preach. We must let freedom ring. We must prevail as a people, not as a corporatist-nation.
